ODDITY : MARIA BLACK
A journey through the captivating tale of the Year of ODDITY, a celebration of playfulness, expressiveness, and self-exploration.
Set to unfold in 2025, this enigmatic year is just one chapter of an extraordinary saga of four collection drops that will redefine the idea of contemporary jewelry.
In a collaboration with Maria Black, ODDITY emerges from the vibrant streets of Copenhagen, where our team immersed themselves in the pulse of the city, unveiling the citys playfulness, expressiveness, and androgyny.
Discover ODDITY.
This project was a group project. My main responsibilities included branding, storytelling, and the lookbook. In addition, I contributed to design development, CAD prototypes, and rendering.
The four concepts
We had hunch about playfullnes being a trend, and we had to see if that was correct.
We quickly discovered that a lot of people were using playfull vibes in their style, so we decided to craft mood boards reflecting what we envisioned when thinking about playfulness. Different colors, playful aesthetics, odd vibes, and more contributed to these mood boards.
The odd funny feeling inspired by our mood board led us to consider the contrast to the word 'odd.' Consequently, the first drop, ODD/COMMON, was conceived.
Our given rules in this project was to make four concepts but only to work with one, therefor we chose to work with the contrast between ODD/COMMEN, and then we created sharp contrasts for the three other: YOUNG/UNYOUNG, NOSTALGIA/FUTURE, and CUTE/COOL.
Materials : Photoshop, InDesign
Sketches 001
For creating our collection, we wanted to try a lot of diffrent techniques, but to get started we needed our design drivers.
We were very inspirered from ballons and wanted to work with the various shapes and porprtions from ballons.
And to really keep the playfull trend present, we landed on these four.
Crooked porportions
Shapes
Colors
Adventurous illusions
We started with paper and pens to draw, and then moved on to work with wax, ballons, clay.

Sketches 002 & Final pieces
The final jewelry pieces are crafted from recycled 925 sterling silver, with each item also available in a 22K gold-plated variation. The decision to offer only gold-plated versions stemmed from our aim to keep prices within a range accessible to a broader audience
In this project we had to make our jewellery inRhino, render them in Keyshot and also make phsycal finished prototypes in the disered metal.
When it came to casting our 3D-printed jewelry, we opted to cast with the stones already set in place. This choice allowed us to streamline production and save valuable time. Working exclusively with Cubic Zirconia in our jewelry made this possible, a decision recommended by Maria Black at the project's outset.
Materials : Rhino, Keyshot, silver, Cubic Zirconia
Branding
Our idea behind our branding stretegies were to let the consumer get an opiturnity to get into our playfull universe. We thougt it was importent for our lookbook, display and POS material to reallyshow off our ideas and our quest to get everyone to experience the playfulls, the self explaration and the expressiveness that is ODDITY.
Via our design drivers and our jewellery design we decided to keep the extreme playfull energy going with using very vibrante colors and a number of diffrent textures.
We wanted to make sure the playfull energy was present in our photo and graphic material, so we got in touch with a stylist and a photografur for out photoshoot.

Colors
Prior to embarking on the creation of our LookBook, POS material, and posters, we engaged in a thoughtful exploration of the color palette that would define our collection.
Upon reviewing the captured moments from our photoshoot, a striking realization dawned on us - our colors exhibited a remarkable contrast. Embracing this vibrant aspect, we leaned into the allure of contrasting colors, a decision intended to elevate our visuals and make our pictures truly stand out.

Lookbook
To make the LookBook more engaging, we added a special touch. Questions strategically placed within its pages serve as a guide, leading readers to specific jewelry pieces connected to each question. This not only primes our customers but also infuses a playful element into the LookBook, creating an interactive experience. Our goal is for every customer to feel the vivid and playful atmosphere as they explore our collection.
